The Original Margarita Frozen

Texas Top Shelf

In Galveston for the weekend and we finally take time to visit this well known spot. It’s noon on Sunday and anywhere you go will have a wait, but we thought we would take our chances at a spot frequented by locals and not quite as touristy as Seawall restaurants on the Gulf of Mexico. The small waiting area was full and we had to wait outside. It was a pleasant day and we we found those waiting to be neighborly and interested in chatting. A nice group to wait with.
Just under the 20 minutes quoted, we were sitting at a small table for two by the stairs on the first floor. The restaurant is in a converted two story house and it works nicely for the traditional Mexican and TexMex menu.
We ordered the Original Margarita frozen made with tequila, triple sec, and homemade sour mix. It was a good house margarita we rated as 3.5 margarita glasses. The Texas Top Shelf made with Pura Vida Reposado, Gran Gala orange liqueur and the homemade sour mix was a nice top shelf worthy of a return visit. We gave the Texas Top Shelf 4 margarita glasses.

We enjoyed our food. This is exactly what you want in a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The salsa was just about perfect and there are several margaritas we want to try on our next visit.

The hunt continues…..
