The Great Margarita Hunt

Soto’s Cantina Lived Up To Their Reputation

11 Margaritas to choose from!

We had heard about Soto’s Cantina at the beginning of the hunt in 2019.  Several people who live in the northwest side of Houston told The Great Margarita Hunt, Soto’s is a must for the list.  This Saturday evening there was a light rain and a promise of cooler weather.  We were scheduled to meet family on their way back to Austin and decided it was time to check out the margaritas at Soto’s for our family dinner.
Google Maps was confused about which side of the street Soto’s was on, but we finally arrived.  We decided to sit outside on the porch, made possible because of the overhead fan and evening heat lamps for when things cooled down on this February evening.
We were at Soto’s Cantina for margaritas and food because we were hungry.  Our priorities were in the right order for this margarita hunt expedition.  Expectations were high because of the good reports from several reliable sources.

We were not disappointed.
Soto's Cantina Margarita Menu
Our group of four tried six different margaritas from the impressive list of 11 margaritas found on the menu. Interesting choices and reasonably priced, it did not take long before Pablo took our drink order and returned with our first round.
Chill-Rita – $9  for a 10oz house margarita with a choice of lime, mango, or strawberry.  We tried lime.
Soto’s Top Shelf $11
Jalapeno Margarita $10 house margarita with fresh jalapenos
Kiwirita $9 Herradura Silver tequila, Cointreau, fresh kiwis, and lime juice
Mexican Mojito $11 Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver tequila, agave nectar, club soda, fresh mint and lime juice
Berry Rita $9 El Jimador tequila, Cointreau fresh blueberries, and lime juice
Platino Martini Margarita $11 Don Julio Silver tequila, agave nectar, and fresh lime juice
Off Menu Ask – Don Julio 1942 with agave nectar and fresh lime juice
We enjoyed ourselves so much, we did not record the ratings for each margarita.  We will do this on a future visit.  We did evaluate each margarita, and there was not a margarita below a rating of three margarita glasses and there was more than one that was above a four margarita glass rating.
If you saw the before and after video on Instagram, you can probably tell we enjoyed the margarita tasting 😄. You should hear what should have been”house margarita” and it came out like “hrslr grita.” 🤪
We are giving Soto’s a 4+ margarita glass rating for their margaritas and we look forward to our return to taste the margaritas we have yet to try, and offer more ratings.

The hunt continues!
