La Elegancia
Arnaldo Richard’s Picos Restaurant was recommended to me by my margarita loving friend, Michelle. I, in turn, recommended the restaurant as a meeting point for a small group celebrating an important milestone for a project that has taken years to launch, not unlike The Great Margarita Hunt. We met at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday the week before Christmas. This is a popular place and the parking lot was full. Thankfully, I timed my turn into the parking area perfectly 😉 and snagged a spot near the entrance.. The hostess greeted me and when she saw me looking for my friends in the bar area, she offered to take me to the table where my friends were sitting inside the restaurant. Nicely done.
The room was loud with after work and holiday chatter, but not so loud that you could not hear your table mates. I intended to order the Margarita Noir, but was swayed by my conversation with the waiter to order the La Elegancia made with Don Julio 1942, Contreau Noir, and fresh lime juice. At $28 this is on the high end of margaritas I buy. I was expecting a good margarita and it was good with 4 out of 5 margarita glasses. Only one of these tasy margaritas after work with no one to drive me home.
I also enjoyed the Clado Tlalpeno, a yummy chicken soup I enjoyed at the restaurant and for lunch the next day. Next time I visit I want to try the $75 La Billionaria and call an Uber or Lyft.
