Mango Chile Margarita

Spicy Watermelon Margarita

El Metiche

I’m in Love with the Coco

Lola’s has a small inside dining area and an area outside with the city sidewalk going through. We had a small table next to the building. We arrived about 3:30pm and it was clear that business is good for happy hour. We started the hunt with three margaritas.
Lola’s Margarita – $6 Happy Hour price – Pueblo Viejo Blanco Tequila, Naranja, Agave Nectar, Fresh Lime Juice.  After three stops, we found Lola’s Margarita to be the best house margarita of the night by far.  We give it 4 margarita glasses out of 5.

Mango Chile Margarita – $8 Happy Hour – Herradura Silver Tequila, Naranja, Agave Nectar, Lime Juice and Mango Puree. This may be the best mango chile margarita we have tried in several years.  Not too hot or too sweet. Excellent.  We give it 4.5 margarita glasses.

Spicy Watermelon Margarita – $8 Happy Hour – Pueblo Viejo Blanco Tequila, Agave Nectar, Fresh Lime Juice, Jalapeno Watermelon Puree  – As with the Mango Chile, Lola hits this flavored margarita out of the park.  We are giving it our top rating of 5 margarita glasses.
We were so pleased with the first three margaritas and the excellent food, we decided to stay and try two more drinks from the regular menu.
El Metiche $12 – El Metiche Herradura Reposado Tequila, Aperol, Roasted Red Pepper and Jalepeño Syrup, Fresh Lime Juice, Grapefruit Juice and topped with Topo Chico.  First taste left us trying to figure out what was wrong with the drink. The bartender came to us and said they had forgotten to add the red pepper syrup.  Once the drink was returned with the missing ingredient, we raised the rating from a 2 to a 3.5.  This is an interesting drink and definitely needs the red pepper syrup.

I’m in Love with the Coco $12 – Centenario Plata Tequila, Agave Nectar, Lime Juice, and house made Coconut Cream.  This drink was recommended by our server. We might like a bit more citrus, but with found this to be another interesting cocktail and give it a 3.5 margarita glass rating.
Both the mango chili and the spicy watermelon are made with real fruit, good tequila, and just the right amount of agave nectar.  The result is perfection.
We hope the hunt will take you to Lola’s.

The hunt continues….
