We visited at 1:30 on a busy Sunday afternoon. The hostess warned us there would be a 90-minute wait. After looking at the lovely patio with seating, fountains, and a walk-up bar, we decided to wait and enjoy the beautiful day outside with a margarita or two while we waited. Edible orchids decorate each adult beverage. I heard the restaurant orders close to 3,000 orchids a week to serve in their drinks.
We were surprised to see a frozen Minute Maid Limeade case behind the bar. It was impossible to unsee and not allow the presence of limeade to influence our review, especially when the menu does not share the ingredients for each margarita.
We gave the Top Shelf on the rocks a rating of 3 margarita glasses out of a possible 5, the Top Shelf Frozen 3.5 margarita glasses, the Jalapeño Margarita 4 glasses, and the House Frozen 4 glasses.
We found the food, service, and décor to make La Fogata worth the long wait, and we would return for the food.
