We joined friends for a birthday celebration at Armandos, not realizing a reservation was needed for a Saturday evening. The host was gracious enough to accommodate our group, and we were seated at a table near the bar. Armandos is an upscale, white-tablecloth restaurant with Mexican and Latin food and a full page of margaritas included in the menu.

Our group started with the frozen house and mango margaritas. The frozen margarita has a perfectly thick consistency. The fruit margaritas start with the house frozen margarita and flavored syrup poured over as a floater, not our preferred method to mix a fruit margarita.
House Margarita – Made with Jose Cuervo Traditional Silver, this is a good house, and we give it a rating of 4 margarita glasses out of a possible 5.
.
Meltdown Margarita Mango – This house margarita made with Jimador Silver Tequila has mango syrup floating on top. We asked for more mango to mix into the margarita. Not as good as a margarita made with mango puree. We give this a rating of 3 margarita glasses.

Meltdown Margarita with Sangria – This meltdown margarita works better with the sangria. We give it 4 margarita glasses.

Spicy Passion Fruit Margarita Rocks – Patron Reposado, Cointreau, Cane Passion Fruit, and Jalapeno mix. Our drink needed a better shake before the pour, but once the flavors had a chance to blend, we gave this margarita a rating of 4 margarita glasses.
Grand Don Margarita Rocks – Don Julio Silver tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice. We give it 4 margarita glasses.

River Oaks Rita – This margarita is at the top of the top shelf margarita category. Made with Jose Cuervo Reserva De La Familia Tequila, Patron Citronge, fresh lime juice a la minute, agave served with Volcanic Black Salt rim and 24 K gold lime slice over crushed ice. This fancy margarita is nice and smooth, as expected. We think a chilled glass would improve this drink while not watering down with ice and serving this margarita at a cooler temperature. We give the River Oaks Rita a rating of 4.5 margarita glasses. It has to be good with quality ingredients like these, but it is not worth the $45 price.
