Barcenas is a neighborhood place that you will miss if you aren’t looking for it. We like trying out of the way and local places. Once inside, we realized we should have looked at the menu online. Barcenas has a large food menu.
Unfortunately, we did not check out the drink menu before stopping. House margarita and house margarita with flavors are the choices available. There is a menu of a decent tequila selection, so you can convert your margarita to a top shelf.
We tried the pineapple margarita. It was okay and would be good on a hot day. We gave the pineapple margarita 3 margarita glasses.
The house margarita was also okay with a 3 margarita glass rating.
The enchiladas and guacamole were okay. The stuffed pepper was tasty.
One of our favorite Mexican restaurants, Lopez Mexican Restaurant in Stafford, Texas, started as a small neighborhood place and grew into a large neighborhood restaurant with a second location. Barcenas is also an established neighborhood restaurant. They could benefit from the updates and service standard found at Lopez Mexican Restaurant.
What did we think of Barcenas and their margaritas? It was okay. If we lived in the neighborhood, we would explore other options before returning.
